Endangered!

We Wonder!

Introduction: We Wonder!
As scientists we wonder abut the world around us and ask questions!

Hello New Park Elementary scientists! We have just completed a unit of study on dinosaurs and learned how they became naturally extinct. The last dinosaur died 65 million years ago. So dinosaurs are extinct!

As scientists we can wonder about the many animals that are almost extent. These animals are endangered! Can you hear the word “danger” in the word “endangered”? An endangered animal is one that is in danger of becoming extinct. We learned about twenty-one endangered animals in the book, Almost Gone. Some animals are endangered because people have harmed their habitats – the place where they find food, water, air, and shelter. Others are endangered because people have hunted them and killed too many. How can we help and protect these animals so they survive?

It will be our mission to investigate endangered animals and build a zoo where they can live comfortably within their preferred habitat. Here are two short movie clips about endangered animals. Put on your headphones and enjoy!
